Peace to the Mordern World
Emmanuel M. P. Edeh, C.S.Sp. Professor of Philosophy of Education
The Founder of African Philosophy.
Fr. Edeh’s first book "Towards an Igbo Metaphysics" in 1984, is a book that has been described as "a milestone in the history of thought", and for which Fr. Edeh has been fondly remembered as the first to articulate African Philosophy through articulating Igbo Metaphysics, as Aristotle and Co., were the first to articulate Western Philosophy through articulating Greek Philosophy. Just as Aristotle was known as the father of Western Philosophy; Fr. Edeh is also known as the Father of African Philosophy. For in this work he actually set out doing, rather than describing what is really African Philosophy: Also in his Igbo Metaphysics, one can see a foundation for Catholic Theology laid in African thought pattern.
